A TIME FOR EVERYTHING: RITUALS AGAINST FORGETTING

Quintan Ana Wikswo’s project “Sonderbauten” is a transdisciplinary exploration of the institutional erasure and silencing of state-based rape, sexual violence, and gender-based crimes against humanity. In documenting the obscured rape brothel at Dachau, Wikswo questions how even within the most documented genocide in human history, sexualized violence against women remains taboo.

The exhibition includes 16 large photographs created by Wikswo using Nazi military film cameras manufactured by slave labor; Wikswo’s original prose poem sequence in German and English; a projection installation of Wikswo’s 12 minute film; a museum catalogue; a performance collaboration with choreographer Alexx Shilling (dancers Shayna Keller and Sarah Jacobs, and composer Isaac Shankler, Violin by Andrew Tholl, Voice by Anna Lisa Bloth, Translation into German by Dorothea Herreiner).
