In her second appearance in Tin House, Quintan Ana Wikswo’s THE LITTLE KRETSCHMAR locates a series of eerie and unsettling secrets behind sex in wartime, along with paper birds and scissors and saunas. Currently appearing alongside work by Michel Houellebecq, Marilynne Robinson, and others who wrangle with the beauty of strangeness in the 50th anniversary “Beauty” issue of Tin House magazine.
“…He and she like to have sex on a Saturday, after a nice sauna. And that is what made the Little Kretschmar. She cares for the house, and for all inside it, but there is much to mourn. Because there is always little Kretschmar….”
The video installation, photographs and perfomance piece that accompany this story are currently on exhibit in Quintan’s solo museum exhibition at Yeshiva University Museum in Manhattan through February 22, 2012: QUINTAN ANA WIKSWO: PROPHECY OF PLACE.
