Spring 2015: New Book Forthcoming on Coffee House Press

January 9, 2014

After many long years of conjuring worlds in words, I’m elated to announce that my first book is forthcoming on the phenomenal Coffee House Press in Spring 2015. It’s called THE HOPE OF FLOATING HAS CARRIED US THIS FAR – a collection of poems, stories, memoirs, and short texts along with the companion suites of nearly one hundred full color photographs. Get ready, witches!!!

this is the reading chair. please sit down. I have a little something for you. Look, there it is, waiting for you, on the seat. Is that your name on the flyleaf? I think it is. How eerie.

THE HOPE OF FLOATING HAS CARRIED US THIS FAR is an existentialist, fabulist exploration of queer quantum time-space, and the castaways who lose themselves in its unmapped terrain. The body of work follows a group of elite scientists whose tragic encounters with love and lust, loss and longing have all but killed them.

To each, the question is posed: when the human condition and Newtonian physics become too painfully restrictive, is it possible to find freedom in another dimension? Have you lost the will to live, or have you lost the will to live as human?

Each by each, they choose to live – but to surrender their human form. From within their peculiar existential limbo, they must explore their new existence as interstical beings – neither human nor god, neither alive nor dead, neither on earth nor in heaven.

Unmoored in timespace and with supernatural powers, they one by one fall off the map of the known and set forth upon the uncharted frontiers of quantum existence. They learn to live in unbounded states, with edges that can no longer be marked, and meanings that can no longer be defined.
