I’m back in the deep desert, down in the arroyos, up in the constellations of December. A wood fire warming the adobe on icy mornings. Coyotes at night. Working on my current project, OUT HERE DEATH IS NO BIG DEAL, which means with my typewriter, my cameras, and my feet I am tracing and retracing the spaces of my adolescence and beyond – always an intriguing enterprise, to map the personal territories and see what has changed, what hasn’t changed, what cannot change, what might change, and what must.
