As some folks know, my Brooklyn studio flooded early this summer. Sometimes a minor catastrophe can be the best medicine – I’m more happily resettled in moody-sweet digs with numinous rays of opalescent light and lots of space for incubation of ideas. A few work prints were destroyed, but it was good to clean and sort and begin fresh for a new September.
Mostly I love the nine-legged spider-crack that spans the window pane…as though it was attracted to my Scorpion and Vulture vigilantes just inside the glass. The large aluminum disk below them is a Galaxy Map Plate from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. Spider woman knows just where she belongs.
And once again, if anyone has any old or new, questionable or expired film or analogue cameras floating around, please give me a holler and they can stay at my camera sanitarium with all their old friends. Come on in, the water’s nice!
