FIELD REPORT: DRAGONS ARE ALIVE AND WELL IN THE OBERKAMPF METRO STATION!

November 19, 2009

WRITTEN IN PARIS     Introducing Bumblemoth’s “MAN ON THE STREET” in Paris, who just this afternoon has magically captured the sentiments of the everyday beautiful people of Paris concerning the upcoming artistic collaboration between ancestrally linked German artist Paetrick Schmidt and the gal-about-galaxy Quintan Ana Wikswo. This incipient project involves ghosts of dragons in the Oberkampf Metro Station. I suspect they know just a little more than we might expect about the clues to happiness in the modern world.

Please enjoy the work of the delightfully peculiar, immensely talented sorcerer genius and fantastical assemblage and painter and collage artist Paetrick Schmidt (we were fellow artists this autumn at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and he features prominently in a particular blog post, as my partner in rebellion at the Nazi eugenics factory/epilepsy colony in Lynchburg). His work is beyond brilliant, and as a creature of the universe he is superb in every way.

Please enjoy more of Paetrick’s work at http://www.paedie.de Your life and sensibilities will be immeasurably improved for it.

I will also say that I am nearly entirely certain that our perhaps mutual ancestors are quite fascinated by this friendship – to be a fly on the wall beyond the grave! Paetrick is German in this current lifetime, however, his family semi-recently comes from the same small area in Lithuania as my father’s family…if the legends about fighting with Napoleon are true. Surely our blood spirals are not strangers. We hail from the same potatoes.
